December 5th, 2019: 3 Tweets That Made Me Think
There’s plenty of content out there that elaborates on how dangerous it is to be lonely these days. Many people view it as strange or unhealthy if people are single over a certain age (this is especially true for women), and there are articles suggesting that loneliness can lead to an early death.
Countless writers and philosophers have created their best work when alone. Henry David Thoreau infamously preached about self-reliance in his seminal Walden. Some of the greatest minds in history have praised solitude, whether we are speaking about Thomas Edison, Pablo Picasso, Aristotle, or Nikolai Tesla.
In a world where we measure success through metrics, likes, and contacts — it can be hard to remember this. Of course, one of my favorite accounts on Twitter, @naval — reminded me of this recently:
